YOU’RE INVITED to the Living Healthy Program (Chronic Disease Self-Management Program)* new at Freedom & Cystic Fibrosis Pharmacy this year! We’re very excited to host these six-week, complimentary workshops for individuals with an ongoing or limiting-health condition, such as COPD, arthritis, hypertension, heart & other pulmonary diseases or chronic conditions. Please join us just once a week, each Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at 3901 E. Colonial Drive in Orlando!
LIVING HEALTHY WORKSHOP DATES: (Note: Revised dates)
May 3 – June 7, 2017 (Registration is now closed).
& Sept. 6 – Oct. 11, 2017 (Registration is still OPEN).
THESE HIGHLY PARTICIPATIVE WORKSHOPS WILL COVER:
Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation
Exercises for maintaining & improving strength, flexibility & endurance
Appropriate use of medications
Communicating effectively with health professionals, family & friends
Nutrition, decision making & how to evaluate new medical treatments
The curriculum will help participants develop coping strategies, behavior modifications & the confidence & skills needed in the day-to-day better management of their overall health, chronic condition & medications; with the goal of maintaining active and fulfilling lives.

*This program was developed through the Stanford University Patient Education Research Center thanks to a five year research grant to their School of Medicine & is offered through the Senior Resource Alliance – Area Agency on Aging of Central Florida at Freedom Pharmacy & Cystic Fibrosis Pharmacy in Orlando.
Note: The workshops will be adhering to the infection control guidelines maintained by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation if there are any participating cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. Patients with CF who have ever cultured Burkholderia cepacia or MRSA in last two years, have two consecutive diagnoses of non-tuberculosis mycobacteria, or have a bacterium resistant to all antibiotics cannot attend the program.
